Volunteer Opportunities

COME VOLUNTEER AT GOODWILL

Goodwill is always grateful to volunteers who give their time to help us further our mission. We encourage groups and individual volunteers of various age groups and backgrounds to share their time and talents. Volunteer opportunities include:

• Donation Drive: Host a material donation drive at your office, school or organization.
• Front Desk Assistant: Assist with answering incoming calls and greeting and guiding visitors. This opportunity is at our main office (3020 N. Westmoreland Rd.), from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
• Attended Donation Site (ADC) Helper: Assist with greeting and assisting the public as they bring donated items to our trailers. Involves some lifting and ability to go up and down stairs frequently. Ideal for groups! Goodwill has 21 Attended Donation Centers in the Dallas area, most open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., seven days a week. Some have extended hours; contact headquarters for exact times.
• Sheltered Workshop Assistant: Assist our employees who have severe disabilities with production goals. This includes helping transport product, removing finished items, monitoring quality and verifying quantities.
• Donation Sorter: Examine and determine value of donated computer equipment, clothing, house wares, sporting equipment, books and more.
• Clerical Assistant: Provide clerical assistance.
• Classroom Tutor: Provide tutoring to GED and Computer Literacy program participants.
• Volunteer at a Goodwill Store near you!

Goodwill provides opportunities for individuals to perform community service required by court-ordered restitution agreements. Interested persons should come to our main facility for Volunteer Orientation, which is held every first and third Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. This orientation is mandatory. Please bring your court information, parole officer's number (where applicable) and a photo I.D. to orientation. We cannot accept community service for violent offenses towards another individual (assault) or for any weapons-related charges. (Likewise, volunteers with a history of assault or weapons-related charges cannot be accepted.) If under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must attend the orientation with the student.

Have you always wanted to witness first-hand how your donations provide jobs for individuals with disabilities and disadvantages? Are you interested in seeing how our organization collects and sorts more than 27 million pounds of donated goods a year? Are you looking for an activity for your community group or organization? Tours are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., by appointment. A variety of group sizes can be accommodated.
