JOB TRAINING

COMPUTER APPLICATIONS PROGRAM

Certified through Richland College and the Texas Workforce Commission as a short-term intensive job skills program for the unemployed job seeker. Instruction time includes over 6 weeks at 20 hours per week. Graduates work towards earning a NorthStar Excel and Basic Computer Skills Certification.

GOOGLE ACCELERATOR

Goodwill and Google.org have teamed up to empower people with the technological skills needed to advance their careers and transform their lives in the digital age. Qualified instructors teach basic computer skills, job applications, and basic skills necessary for many entry-level tasks such as word processing, excel and other computer applications.

CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES & JOB READINESS

We prepare job seekers to function independently and productively as family members, citizens, and members in the community. Clients are provided with intake and referral services, community resources for housing, food, medical, legal and other urgent needs. Social skills training is provided to aid job seekers in developing interpersonal skills, independence, decision making, and effective communication skills. Occupational guidance includes teaching appropriate work habits, as well as successful skills in seeking and maintaining employment.

ADULT RE-ENTRY PROGRAM

Goodwill provides effective, comprehensive and person-centered training and employment services to men and women with criminal convictions to help ex-offenders get back on their feet. The Adult Re-Entry Program connects individuals with a criminal history, who want to work, employment assistance and directly connects them with second-chance employers.

MEET MICHAEL, A GOODWILL SUCCESS STORY

Michael grew up in West Dallas and suffers from schizophrenia. Before coming to Goodwill, Michael had not held a job in 10 years. Goodwill’s Computer Literacy and Job Readiness Programs helped Michael to enhance his technical skills, improve his resume and be better prepared for interviews. Michael now has a new career as a Customer Service Representative.
